Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Visits New Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy

Abu Dhabi, 17 June 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, today toured the new headquarters of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, an integral part of AD Ports Group. The visit highlights the Academy’s commitment to building national maritime expertise through high‑quality training and education.

During the visit, His Highness examined the Academy’s modern campus, including its advanced simulation labs, onboard training platforms and integrated learning facilities. He received a comprehensive briefing on Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy’s core programmes, which blend theoretical instruction with hands‑on vessel experience and state‑of‑the‑art simulation technologies. These programmes, delivered in collaboration with regional and global maritime partners, prepare graduates for careers in shipping and maritime operations, marine and electro‑marine engineering, supply chain and logistics management, as well as senior officer and senior engineer roles.

His Highness praised Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy’s role in supporting the maritime sector and diversifying the national economy, particularly through its focus on developing top‑tier Emirati talent and deploying advanced technological solutions. His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was accompanied by His Excellency Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary‑General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince; Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Group CEO of AD Ports Group; and Dr. Yasser Al Wahedi, President of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.

Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy continues to expand its training offerings to include technical and corporate modules, such as simulation systems, supply chain, HR, project risk management, finance and accounting. The Academy also actively engages in maritime research and development, delivering practical solutions including intelligent business monitoring, smart security systems and smart vessel technologies.

The institution holds seven U.S. patents covering innovative AI applications: seismic prediction via marine life monitoring, satellite‑based carbon emissions detection, a portable drone detection device, and systems that monitor trainee concentration and psychological stress. Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy formalised a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with ID Quantique, a Swiss leader in quantum‑safe cryptography and subsidiary of IonQ. Cultivated under the QInnovision Quantum Adoption Programme led by Vernewell Group, the MoU outlines a shared interest in exploring the application of quantum-resilient cybersecurity technologies for maritime infrastructure and communications. The understanding includes potential collaboration on training content and pilot research initiatives aligned with future maritime security needs.

The visit by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirms the UAE’s continued commitment to advancing sovereign capabilities in maritime education, innovation, and digital resilience. It reflects Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision to position the nation as a global leader in future-oriented industries through investment in talent, research, and emerging technologies.
